On the way from the river Guadalquivir and once past the vine-covered hillsides, we come to an extensive open plain and the silhouette of del Cortijo de Alventus, a building in the traditional design of the eighteenth century commissioned by the Duke and Duchess of Medina Sidonia.

The complex has several unusual elements: an “aljibe” water cistern with drinking trough in the almijar, an area where grapes are laid to dry, a façade with ceramic tiles depicting the Virgin Mary and the name of the cortijo, a large courtyard and the main building of Morisco design. The estate has close links with the fighting bull and consequently has a bull pen.

It is a unique building, included on page 284 – nº88 of the book “Cortijos, haciendas y lagares”.
